The spectral steed that carries the player in Elden Ring is called Torrent.
Torrent is a magical, horned mount obtained early in the game through an encounter involving Melina. The player can summon the steed using the Spectral Steed Whistle, allowing faster travel across the Lands Between.
Mounted exploration is one of Elden Ring’s major differences from earlier Souls games. Torrent can double-jump, help the player cross gaps, and support mounted combat against enemies and bosses in suitable areas.
Torrent is not the player’s permanent identity or a conventional animal companion. The mount is tied to Melina’s mysterious plans and appears as a spectral creature, which is why the game presents it as a supernatural steed rather than an ordinary horse.
