The second film in Pixar's Cars franchise is titled Cars 2.
Released in 2011, Cars 2 shifts the focus from Lightning McQueen's racing career to Mater, who becomes entangled in an international spy adventure. Lightning competes in the World Grand Prix while Mater is mistaken for an undercover agent.
The film was directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Brad Lewis. It is the franchise's first feature to place its characters in multiple international locations, including Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London.
Cars 2 introduced several major characters, including British spy Finn McMissile, spy-in-training Holley Shiftwell, and the villainous Professor Zündapp. It was Pixar's twelfth feature film.
