Jackson Storm is the rookie racer who becomes Lightning McQueen's rival in Pixar's Cars 3.
Storm represents a new generation of racers built around advanced technology, intensive simulation, and modern training methods. His speed quickly makes McQueen and other veteran competitors appear outdated.
The rivalry begins when Storm repeatedly defeats McQueen on the race circuit. McQueen's attempt to match the younger car's performance ends in a serious crash, prompting his sponsor to assign him to Cruz Ramirez for training.
Jackson Storm is not the same character as Chick Hicks from the first film. Chick is McQueen's aggressive rival in the original Piston Cup story, while Storm is the high-tech competitor who drives the central conflict in Cars 3. Cal Weathers, meanwhile, is a veteran racer and a relative of Strip Weathers.
