The Radiator Springs sheriff in Pixar's Cars is named Sheriff.
Unlike many characters in the film, the sheriff is generally identified by his occupational title rather than a separate personal name. He is the black-and-white police car who pursues Lightning McQueen after the race car damages the town's main road and flees into the desert.
Sheriff helps maintain order in Radiator Springs and participates in the community's response to Lightning's court-ordered road repair. Michael Wallis, a Route 66 historian and author, provided Sheriff’s voice in the original film.
The character is sometimes confused with Sarge, the green military jeep, or Red, the town's fire truck. Those vehicles have different roles and personalities. Sheriff is specifically the local law-enforcement car who first brings Lightning back to Radiator Springs.
