What is the name of the pirate robot in The Lego Movie?

The pirate robot in The Lego Movie is MetalBeard. He is a large, bionic pirate and one of the Master Builders, the creative LEGO characters who can construct extraordinary objects from loose bricks.

MetalBeard was originally a conventional pirate, but he lost most of his body during a mission to the Octan Tower. His remaining vital organs were incorporated into a much larger mechanical pirate body, complete with a ship-like design, a cannon, and a distinctive treasure-chest motif. He later helps Emmet and the other heroes after Cloud Cuckoo Land is destroyed.

A common mix-up is confusing MetalBeard with ordinary pirate-themed LEGO characters or with the film’s many interchangeable robots. The names in the wrong options are not characters from The Lego Movie. MetalBeard also returns in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, where he can transform into different combat forms and later receives another rebuilt body. His exaggerated design is a parody of classic pirate imagery translated into LEGO form.
