What is the name of the open-world region where Elden Ring takes place?
Answer
The Lands Between
Answer
The Lands Between
Elden Ring takes place in a region called the Lands Between.
The Lands Between is the game’s central open world, ruled and contested by figures connected to Queen Marika the Eternal and the Elden Ring. It contains regions such as Limgrave, Liurnia of the Lakes, Caelid, Altus Plateau, and Mountaintops of the Giants.
The setting is not the same as Lordran, the principal world of Dark Souls, or Yharnam, the city at the heart of Bloodborne. Those names belong to other FromSoftware games and are common mix-ups in Soulsborne trivia.
Exploration of the Lands Between is central to Elden Ring. The player can find dungeons, legacy dungeons, NPC questlines, bosses, and map fragments while traveling across the landscape.
