What is the name of the major race in Pixar’s Cars 3?

The major race in Pixar’s Cars 3 is the Florida 500.

The Florida 500 is the season-ending Piston Cup race at the International Motor Speedway in Florida. Lightning McQueen enters the event while trying to prove that he can still compete with the faster, technologically advanced next generation of racers.

The race becomes a turning point for Lightning and his trainer, Cruz Ramirez. Their partnership changes the meaning of victory and helps connect Lightning’s experience with Cruz’s own racing ambitions.

The Florida 500 should not be confused with the Piston Cup, which is the championship competition and trophy series featured throughout the Cars films. The Florida 500 is a specific race within that racing world.
