What is the name of the magical railway platform used by Hogwarts students in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books?

The story behind the answer

Hogwarts students use Platform 9¾ to board the train to Hogwarts in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books.

The platform is located at King’s Cross railway station in London, between the ordinary platforms numbered 9 and 10. In the story, passengers reach it by running through a concealed barrier. The Hogwarts Express departs on 1 September for the school’s new academic year.

Platform 9¾ became one of the most recognizable locations in the series. King’s Cross later installed a luggage trolley appearing to pass through a wall, creating a popular visitor attraction. A real platform 9¾ does not exist between the station’s numbered platforms in the exact fictional sense, but the station’s connection with the books is a lasting part of Harry Potter tourism.
