Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered at London’s Palace Theatre.
The play began previews at the Palace Theatre in June 2016 and officially opened there on 30 July 2016. Its world premiere followed a special preview performance in London and came one day before publication of the script book.
J.K. Rowling developed the story with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. Thorne wrote the script, while Rowling was credited as a creator of the original story rather than as the play’s sole playwright.
The production is set nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Its central characters include the adult Harry Potter and his son Albus Severus Potter, who begins at Hogwarts during the play.
