What is the name of the Hudson Hornet character in Cars?
Answer
Doc Hudson
Answer
Doc Hudson
The Hudson Hornet character in Cars is Doc Hudson. He is a fictional 1951 Hudson Hornet who once raced under the name the Fabulous Hudson Hornet before retiring to Radiator Springs.
Doc initially hides his racing history from Lightning McQueen. To the town, he appears to be a stern local doctor and judge, but McQueen eventually discovers the trophies and learns that Doc was a celebrated Piston Cup racer. His career ended after a serious crash and the racing world’s loss of interest in him.
The character draws on the real Hudson Hornet’s reputation in stock-car racing. The Hudson Hornet was especially associated with early-1950s NASCAR success, making it a fitting model for Doc’s legendary past. Pixar also cast Paul Newman, an accomplished racing enthusiast, as Doc’s voice.
The other choices are separate Cars characters: Chick Hicks is a rival racer, while Strip “The King” Weathers is a champion associated with Dinoco. “Strip Weathers” is The King’s full name, not the name of the Hudson Hornet character.
