Cheech Marin voiced Ramone in Cars.

Ramone is Radiator Springs’ lowrider and owner of Ramone’s House of Body Art, where he repaints cars in elaborate custom styles. His purple paint, whitewall tires, hydraulics and flamboyant personality make him one of the film’s most visually distinctive residents.

Marin brought a recognizable comic voice to the character. He was already famous as half of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong and had extensive acting experience in films and television before joining Pixar’s voice cast. He also reprised Ramone in Cars 2, Cars 3 and the short Mater and the Ghostlight.

A common mix-up is George Lopez, who voices Ramón in the English-language animated film Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2—not Ramone in Cars. George Lopez is also associated with animated comedy, but the Cars character belongs to Cheech Marin.
