Jenifer Lewis voiced Flo in Cars.

Flo is the owner of Flo’s V-8 Café, Radiator Springs’ diner and fuel stop. She is married to Ramone, the town’s custom-paint artist, and is one of the welcoming residents who helps make the struggling Route 66 community feel like home. Her confident, quick-witted personality gives the town’s ensemble much of its warmth.

Lewis provides Flo’s voice in Cars and returns for the character in Cars 2, Cars 3, Cars on the Road and related Cars media. In the original film, Flo is described as an aquamarine 1957 General Motors Motorama show car, linking her design to the glamorous concept cars displayed by automakers in the mid-20th century.

Jenifer Lewis is also widely known for live-action roles and other animated performances. She voiced Mama Odie in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog and later played Ruby Johnson in the television comedy Black-ish. Flo is sometimes confused with other major Black actresses who have voiced Disney characters, but the English-language Cars credit belongs to Lewis.
