Which actor voiced Mack, the transport truck in Cars?

The story behind the answer

John Ratzenberger voiced Mack, the transport truck in Cars.

Mack is Lightning McQueen’s loyal hauler, a modified 1985 Mack Super-Liner that transports the rookie race car between Piston Cup events. His long drive toward the tie-breaking race becomes a major plot point: after McQueen pressures him to continue driving, Mack falls asleep, loses the trailer and unknowingly leaves Lightning stranded.

The role continued Ratzenberger’s celebrated relationship with Pixar. He first voiced Hamm in Toy Story and became a recurring Pixar performer, appearing in films such as A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. Cars even jokes about this tradition during its end credits, when Mack watches car-themed versions of earlier Pixar films and realizes the same actor voices several characters.

Some players confuse Mack with the movie’s star voices, especially Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear elsewhere and is not Mack. John Ratzenberger reprised the truck in Cars 2 and Cars 3.
