What is the name of the Hogwarts textbook credited to Newt Scamander and written by J.K. Rowling as a charity book?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the Hogwarts textbook credited to Newt Scamander and written by J.K. Rowling as a charity book.

The work was published in 2001 as a companion volume to the Harry Potter series. Its format imitates a student’s schoolbook, including fictional ownership marks and notes attributed to Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The fictional author, Newt Scamander, later became the central character of the Fantastic Beasts film series.

The real-world book was published to raise money for Comic Relief. Alongside Quidditch Through the Ages, it helped turn details from the novels’ fictional library into standalone charitable publications.

The book is not the same as the 2016 film, although the film uses the same title and develops Scamander into a major character. That connection makes the textbook a bridge between Rowling’s original novels and the later screen franchise.
