Albus Dumbledore is the Hogwarts headmaster in the first Harry Potter book created by J.K. Rowling.
Dumbledore serves as headmaster when Harry begins at Hogwarts and is portrayed as the school’s most powerful and respected leader. He is also a highly accomplished wizard whose expertise includes Transfiguration and advanced magical research.
His full name is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Across the series, he acts as a mentor to Harry while withholding some information about the danger posed by Lord Voldemort.
Dumbledore’s earlier history is explored more fully in later books and in the Fantastic Beasts film series. Before becoming headmaster, he taught Transfiguration at Hogwarts and defeated the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in 1945.
