What is the name of the fictional town where Resident Evil Village is primarily set?

The story behind the answer

Resident Evil Village is primarily set in a remote settlement simply called the Village.

The game begins when Ethan Winters is taken to an isolated European region after his life with Mia is disrupted. The surrounding settlement and its nearby territories form the main exploration area, with distinct domains controlled by major figures such as Alcina Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, Salvatore Moreau, and Karl Heisenberg.

Unlike Raccoon City, which is a named American city central to several earlier games, the location in Resident Evil Village is intentionally presented as a mysterious rural community. The title’s word “Village” describes the setting rather than naming a character or organization.

The game’s setting is sometimes confused with Castle Dimitrescu because the castle is one of its most recognizable locations. The castle is only one section of the broader region, and the story later moves through other estates, factories, and underground areas.
