Quidditch is the fictional sport played by witches and wizards in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels. Players ride flying broomsticks while trying to score points with different magical balls. The sport is one of the most recognizable parts of the wizarding world.
A standard team has seven players: three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper and one Seeker. Chasers try to put the Quaffle through one of three hoops, while Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers. The Seeker tries to catch the Golden Snitch, which usually ends the match and awards 150 points.
Quidditch is different from other fictional games named in the series. Gobstones and Exploding Snap are recreational games, not the broomstick team sport. In real life, adapted versions of the game have been played without flying and have sometimes changed the name and rules.
