Quidditch is the fictional sport described in J.K. Rowling’s Quidditch Through the Ages.
Quidditch Through the Ages is presented as a Hogwarts library book written by the fictional author Kennilworthy Whisp. The real-world edition was published in 2001 as a companion volume to the Harry Potter series, with Rowling credited under the pseudonym “J.K. Rowling.”
The book discusses the history and rules of wizarding sport, including broomsticks, team positions, the Quaffle, Bludgers, and the Golden Snitch. In a standard match, teams attempt to score through opposing hoops while the Seeker tries to catch the Snitch.
Quidditch is not the same as Gobstones or wizard chess, which are other games in the Harry Potter world. The title refers specifically to the broomstick sport and its fictional history.
