Raccoon City is the fictional city destroyed in the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis ending.
The game takes place during the 1998 Raccoon City outbreak. Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira struggle to escape while the T-virus spreads through the population and Umbrella’s biological weapons roam the streets.
At the conclusion, the U.S. government launches a nuclear missile strike to destroy the infected city and contain the outbreak. The decision permanently changes the series’ setting and marks the end of Raccoon City as a functioning community.
Raccoon City is also central to Resident Evil 2, but the question concerns Resident Evil 3’s ending. Other locations such as Sheena Island and Harvardville belong to separate Resident Evil stories and were not destroyed in this event.
