What is the name of the fictional author credited on J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike novels?
Answer
Robert Galbraith
Answer
Robert Galbraith
Robert Galbraith is the fictional author name credited on J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike novels.
Rowling first used the name for The Cuckoo’s Calling, published in 2013. The book introduced private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. After the pseudonym was revealed, later novels continued to be published under the Robert Galbraith name while also being identified as part of Rowling’s crime-fiction work.
Rowling chose a separate author identity to distance the crime novels from the enormous expectations surrounding Harry Potter. She has also explained that writing under a pseudonym allowed her to work in a different genre and receive a more independent response.
Robert Galbraith is not a separate person who wrote the series. The name is a pen name, and the books are commonly described as the Cormoran Strike series. The character’s surname, Strike, should not be confused with the author pseudonym.
