What is the name of the detective at the centre of J.K. Rowling’s Strike novels?
Answer
Cormoran Strike
Cormoran Strike is the detective at the centre of J.K. Rowling’s Strike novels.
Strike is a private investigator and former Special Investigation Branch investigator. He operates in London and is introduced in The Cuckoo’s Calling, where he investigates the death of model Lula Landry. Robin Ellacott becomes his professional partner and an essential figure in the series.
The novels were initially published under the name Robert Galbraith. Rowling’s authorship was later disclosed, but the series retained the Galbraith branding. Strike is not a fictional version of Harry Potter: the books are contemporary crime stories involving police work, private investigations, and the complicated professional relationship between Strike and Robin.
