What is the name of the cult controlling the infected villagers in Resident Evil 4?

The cult controlling the infected villagers in Resident Evil 4 is called Los Illuminados.

Los Illuminados is a religious organization led by Osmund Saddler. The cult uses Las Plagas, parasitic organisms that can control human hosts, to dominate villagers and other followers in rural Spain.

The group’s plan involves infecting Ashley Graham and using her to transmit Las Plagas to the U.S. president. Leon Kennedy’s mission therefore develops from a kidnapping rescue into a confrontation with the cult’s biological-control scheme.

Los Illuminados is distinct from Umbrella, the pharmaceutical corporation associated with the T-virus and many earlier games. Tricell is another corporation from the series, while the Connections is a separate organization introduced in Resident Evil 7. These groups’ different roles are a frequent source of confusion.
