What is the name of the cricket in 'Mulan'?

The story behind the answer

The name of the cricket in 'Mulan' is Cri-Kee. He is the small, lucky cricket associated with Mulan and her family in Disney's 1998 animated film.

Cri-Kee is largely silent, communicating through chirps, gestures, and expressive reactions. Mulan's grandmother gives him to her as a good-luck charm before Mulan visits the Matchmaker. Although Cri-Kee is treated as lucky, his escape from the cage causes trouble during the matchmaking sequence, helping establish the film's comic tone.

The character was created specifically for Disney's version of the Mulan story. The traditional Chinese legend of Hua Mulan does not feature a cricket companion, and the animated film also invented Mushu, the dragon guardian voiced by Eddie Murphy. Cri-Kee is voiced through sound effects rather than conventional spoken dialogue, while Frank Welker provided the cricket's vocal effects as well as the voices of Khan and other animals.

A common mix-up is choosing Mushu, who is Mulan's dragon companion, or Khan, her horse. Cri-Kee is the tiny insect character and the one explicitly identified as Mulan's cricket.
