What is the name of the company founded by Oswell E. Spencer in Resident Evil?

Oswell E. Spencer founded the Umbrella Corporation in Resident Evil.

Spencer established Umbrella with Edward Ashford and James Marcus. Although the company publicly operated as a pharmaceutical and biotechnology business, it secretly developed biological weapons and conducted experiments involving viruses and other organisms.

Umbrella’s influence reaches across much of the series. Its research contributes to the creation of the T-virus and other bioweapons, while its facilities and executives drive the plots of several early games.

Tricell later becomes another major corporation in the series, and Neo-Umbrella is a separate organization associated with Resident Evil 6. Those names should not be substituted for Umbrella Corporation when identifying Spencer’s company.
