Much of Kung Fu Panda 2 takes place in Gongmen City.

Gongmen City is a major location in the second film and is ruled by Lord Shen, the peacock antagonist. Po and the Furious Five travel there to stop Shen’s plan to use cannon technology to conquer China and eliminate kung fu as a resisting force.

The city’s architecture, harbor, palace, and industrial areas give the sequel a broader setting than the first film’s Valley of Peace. Its name is sometimes confused with Juniper City, which is the principal urban setting in Kung Fu Panda 4.

The Valley of Peace remains an important location across the franchise, but it is not the answer for this film’s central city. The Jade Palace is a training and spiritual site associated with Master Shifu and the Furious Five, not the name of the city ruled by Lord Shen.
