What is the name of the Cars television short series featuring Mater’s tall tales?

The Cars television short series featuring Mater’s tall tales is called Mater’s Tall Tales.

Mater’s Tall Tales is a series of animated shorts from Pixar’s Cars franchise. Each short centers on Mater telling an extraordinary story about his supposed past adventures. The stories often place him alongside Lightning McQueen in settings involving racing, rescue work, espionage, or other exaggerated exploits.

A recurring joke is that Mater’s stories sound impossible, but details from the tales sometimes appear to have happened. Lightning McQueen frequently questions Mater’s claims, while Mater remains confident that he is describing real events. The format allows Pixar to explore comic situations without changing the main feature-film continuity in a major way.

The shorts are part of the broader Cars Toons project. They are separate from Cars on the Road, a later series released on Disney+ in 2022. That distinction matters because both titles are television productions based on the Cars characters.
