Kelly Macdonald's sheriff character in the DC series Lanterns is named Kerry.
Kerry is the sheriff of Rushville, Nebraska, the close-knit town where Hal Jordan and John Stewart investigate a murder. She is deeply devoted to her family and community and becomes territorial when the outside Green Lantern investigators arrive.
The character provides a local perspective on the case. Jordan and Stewart are intergalactic peacekeepers, but Kerry understands the town, its residents, and its relationships better than the visiting investigators do.
