What is the name of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter charity book about magical creatures?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter charity book about magical creatures is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The book was published in 2001 as a fictional Hogwarts textbook credited inside the story to Newt Scamander. Rowling wrote it as a companion to the Harry Potter novels, presenting short entries about creatures such as dragons, hippogriffs, and the mysterious Acromantula.

The original edition was published to raise money for Comic Relief. Its design imitates a schoolbook, including handwritten notes attributed to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. That framing makes the book feel like an object from the wizarding world rather than a conventional encyclopedia.

The title later became the name of a film series. Those films expand Newt Scamander into a central character and are set decades before Harry’s time. The companion book and the films are therefore related, but they are not the same work.
