Answer
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was J.K. Rowling’s first published Harry Potter companion book.
Bloomsbury published it in 2001 as a charity edition supporting Comic Relief. The book reproduces the fictional Hogwarts textbook used by Harry and his classmates and includes notes attributed to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Rowling wrote it under the fictional author name Newt Scamander.
The companion book is short and structured like a magical field guide, with entries on creatures such as the acromantula and the basilisk. It should not be confused with the later 2016 film of the same name. The film uses Newt as its central character, while the 2001 book mainly presents creature descriptions and humorous schoolbook annotations.
