Answer
The Cuckoo’s Calling
J.K. Rowling’s first published crime novel was The Cuckoo’s Calling.
The novel was published in 2013 under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. It introduces private investigator Cormoran Strike and his temporary secretary, Robin Ellacott, as they investigate the death of model Lula Landry in London.
The book was initially presented as the work of an unknown former military police investigator. Rowling’s authorship was revealed later in 2013 after the pseudonym was exposed. She subsequently continued the series under the Robert Galbraith name.
The Cuckoo’s Calling is sometimes confused with The Silkworm, the second Cormoran Strike novel, or Career of Evil, the third. It is also distinct from The Casual Vacancy, Rowling’s adult social novel, which was published in 2012.
