What is the name of J.K. Rowling’s 2020 children’s novel about a boy and a magical replacement toy?
Answer
The Christmas Pig
J.K. Rowling’s 2020 children’s novel about a boy and a magical replacement toy is The Christmas Pig.
The story follows Jack, whose beloved toy pig, Dur Pig, is lost on Christmas Eve. A replacement Christmas pig comes to life and takes Jack on a journey through the Land of the Lost. The fantasy adventure explores loss, memory, love, and the importance of treasured objects.
The book was published in October 2021, making it a later work than The Ickabog, which Rowling released online during 2020. Those two children’s novels are sometimes mixed up because both appeared after the Harry Potter series and were written for younger readers.
The Christmas Pig is not part of the Harry Potter universe. It is a standalone illustrated children’s story, and its plot centers on Jack’s relationship with his toy rather than on magic taught at a school.
