J.K. Rowling’s 2020 children’s fantasy novel about a boy named Bert is The Ickabog.
The Ickabog is set in the imaginary kingdom of Cornucopia, where a frightening legendary creature becomes central to a story about fear, propaganda, and political power. The young protagonists include Bert Beamish and Daisy Dovetail. Rowling wrote the story years earlier, then released it online in installments during 2020.
A print edition followed later in 2020. Rowling donated royalties from the book to support people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The novel is separate from the Harry Potter universe and is not a continuation of that series.
