Answer
The Tales of Beedle the Bard
The Tales of Beedle the Bard is J.K. Rowling’s 2008 charity fairy-tale collection.
The book presents five wizarding tales supposedly written by Beedle the Bard, a fictional author from the Wizarding World. One story, “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” is especially important in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because it introduces the legend of the Deathly Hallows.
Rowling wrote and illustrated the collection. A limited edition of seven handwritten copies was produced in 2007, with six given to people closely connected to the books and one sold at auction for charity. The commercial edition followed in 2008.
Proceeds from the book supported the Children’s High Level Group, later renamed Lumos. It is not the same fictional textbook as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, nor is Beedle a historical author.
