What is the name of J.K. Rowling's 2008 charity book featuring wizarding folklore and tales?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling's 2008 charity book featuring wizarding folklore and tales is The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is presented as a collection of traditional stories for young witches and wizards. In the Harry Potter narrative, Hermione Granger receives a copy from Albus Dumbledore and translates it from ancient runes. The collection includes “The Tale of the Three Brothers,” which explains the origins of the Deathly Hallows legend.

Rowling published the book in December 2008. Proceeds from the original edition supported the Children's High Level Group, the organization later renamed Lumos. The book therefore connects fictional wizarding culture with Rowling's real-world charitable work.

The title is sometimes grouped with two other Hogwarts library books, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages. Those works are reference-style texts, whereas Beedle's book is a collection of stories accompanied by Dumbledore's notes.
