What is the name of Bob Marley's eldest son, a Grammy-winning musician?

The story behind the answer

Bob Marley's eldest son, a Grammy-winning musician, is Ziggy Marley. Born David Nesta Marley in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1968, Ziggy was the first son of Bob and Rita Marley and grew up surrounded by music. His father gave him guitar and drum lessons, and Ziggy began appearing publicly with his siblings while still young.

He later co-founded Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers with siblings Stephen, Sharon, and Cedella. The group became internationally successful, especially after the album Conscious Party, and won multiple Grammy Awards. Ziggy eventually established a successful solo career, earning further Grammys for albums including Love Is My Religion and Family Time.

A common mix-up is confusing Ziggy with Stephen Marley, who is Bob Marley's second son and also an eight-time Grammy winner. Damian Marley, another famous son, is younger still and is known for albums such as Halfway Tree and Welcome to Jamrock. Ziggy remains both a solo artist and an important representative of the Marley musical legacy.
