What is the highest point of landlocked Czechia?

Sněžka is the highest point in landlocked Czechia, rising to 1,603 metres above sea level.

The mountain stands in the Krkonoše, or Giant Mountains, on the border between Czechia and Poland. Because the international boundary crosses the summit area, Sněžka is also the highest point of the Czech Republic and one of the best-known border mountains in Central Europe. Its exposed summit has a severe alpine climate despite its modest elevation compared with the Alps.

Sněžka’s name is related to words meaning “snowy,” reflecting its frequent snow cover. A cable car reaches the summit from the Czech side, although weather can interrupt service. Visitors sometimes confuse Sněžka with Praděd, the highest mountain of the Hrubý Jeseník range, but Praděd is lower. Czechia itself is surrounded by Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and Austria and has no sea coast.
