The fictional open-world city in Need for Speed: Underground 2 is Bayview.
The game begins after the events of the first Need for Speed: Underground, whose fictional setting was Olympic City. Six months later, the player travels to Bayview after receiving a note from Samantha and a car key associated with Rachel Teller. Bayview becomes the main open-world environment for the sequel’s street-racing story.
Bayview is divided into distinct districts, including City Core, Beacon Hill, Jackson Heights and Coal Harbor. Each area has its own visual identity, from downtown buildings and coastal roads to mountain routes and industrial waterfronts. Players unlock more of the city as they progress through races, sponsorships and Underground Racing League events.
A common mix-up is confusing Bayview with other Need for Speed settings. Rockport belongs to Most Wanted, Palmont City to Carbon, and Seacrest County to Hot Pursuit. Bayview is also not the same location as Olympic City, despite Underground 2 continuing the earlier game’s storyline.
