What is the fictional author name on Hogwarts’ book Quidditch Through the Ages?

The story behind the answer

The fictional author of Hogwarts’ book Quidditch Through the Ages is Kennilworthy Whisp.

The book is presented as a history of the wizarding sport of Quidditch. In the Harry Potter world, it is a library book by Whisp, and Harry, Ron and Hermione consult it while learning about the sport and its rules. The fictional title was adapted into a real charity publication by J.K. Rowling in 2001.

The real edition was credited to Kennilworthy Whisp and published alongside Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Proceeds supported Comic Relief, while the books were designed to look like schoolbooks from Hogwarts. Their annotations by Harry and Ron add an in-world layer to the presentation.

Whisp is easy to confuse with Newt Scamander, the fictional author of Fantastic Beasts, or Bathilda Bagshot, the historian associated with A History of Magic. Each name belongs to a different imaginary book.
