At the beginning of Pokémon Pokopia, Ditto is imitating a human.
Ditto uses its transformation ability to take on a human-like form, allowing the player to perform tasks associated with building and settlement management. This premise makes the protagonist unusual within the Pokémon series: the player is not a human trainer directing a Pokémon team, but a Pokémon acting in a human-shaped form.
The transformation does not make Ditto a different species or turn it into a permanent human. Ditto remains the central Pokémon character and uses its abilities to learn moves from other Pokémon and affect the environment. The setup is also separate from the existing human characters of the Pokémon world. Its purpose is to explain how the player can gather materials, construct homes, and help rebuild a community while experiencing the story from a Pokémon’s perspective.
