Dive was added for underwater exploration in Pokémon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin update.
The move allows Ditto to travel beneath the water’s surface and reach the aquatic area introduced with Part One of the paid Expansion Pass. It extends Pokopia’s signature approach of turning Pokémon moves into practical abilities for exploration and construction.
Dive is especially significant because the original game focuses heavily on land restoration, gardening, and town building. Underwater movement adds a new environmental layer without abandoning the game’s relaxed, creative structure.
Surf is a common source of confusion because it is also strongly associated with water travel in Pokémon games. Waterfall and Whirlpool are likewise established Pokémon moves, but Nintendo specifically identifies Dive as the ability added for underwater exploration in Bubbly Basin.
