What is Mater's full name in Pixar's Cars films?

Mater's full name in Pixar's Cars films is Tow Mater.

Mater is a rusty tow truck who lives in Radiator Springs and becomes Lightning McQueen's closest friend. His name is a pun on “tomater,” matching the series' habit of giving vehicle characters names connected to their designs or automotive roles.

In the first Cars film, Mater helps Lightning understand the community he initially dismisses. He returns as a major character in Cars 2, where his accidental involvement in international espionage drives much of the comedy and plot.

Mater is voiced by comedian Larry the Cable Guy. Viewers sometimes call him simply “Mater,” but “Tow Mater” is the character's established full name. The films do not present “Rusty Tow Truck” or similar descriptive phrases as his official name.
