What is J.K. Rowling’s crime-fiction series about detective Cormoran Strike called?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s crime-fiction series about detective Cormoran Strike is called the Cormoran Strike series.

Rowling writes the books under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. The series follows Cormoran Strike, a private investigator and former Special Investigation Branch investigator, and Robin Ellacott, who becomes his professional partner. Their cases are set largely in contemporary Britain.

The first novel, The Cuckoo’s Calling, was published in 2013. Later books include The Silkworm, Career of Evil, Lethal White, Troubled Blood, The Ink Black Heart, and The Running Grave. The books combine police-style investigation with character development and the evolving working relationship between Strike and Robin.

The series is sometimes described simply as the Robert Galbraith novels because that is the author name on the covers. Its subject, however, is Cormoran Strike’s investigations, so “Cormoran Strike series” is the clearest name for the fictional sequence. The BBC television adaptation is titled Strike.
