Cole’s ninja element in The Lego Ninjago Movie is Earth. Cole is the Black Ninja of Earth, voiced by Fred Armisen, and is portrayed as a laid-back, music-loving member of the Secret Ninja Force.
The film gives each main ninja a distinctive elemental association. Kai commands fire, Jay represents lightning, Zane is linked with ice, and Nya with water. Lloyd is the Green Ninja, but his identity and “green” association make his element different from the traditional elemental powers of the other team members.
Cole’s Earth connection fits both his character design and his role in the Ninjago mythology. He is often presented as the team’s physically powerful ninja, and the film uses his strength alongside the group’s vehicles, weapons, and mechs. The elemental labels also help viewers distinguish characters who otherwise share a similar ninja-based visual identity.
A frequent mistake is choosing Fire because Kai is the red ninja and is one of the most prominent members of the team. Cole’s black color, deep voice, musical personality, and Earth power identify him separately. The character originated in the wider Ninjago theme and television franchise before appearing in the 2017 film.
