The Chevrolet concept car that previewed the production Camaro at the 2006 North American International Auto Show was the Camaro Concept.
Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro Concept at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The concept signaled Chevrolet’s intention to revive the Camaro name after the fourth-generation car ended production in 2002.
Its design drew heavily on the first-generation Camaro, especially the broad grille, raised rear fenders, and short-deck proportions. Public reaction was strong, helping convince General Motors to move the concept into production.
The fifth-generation Camaro entered production for the 2010 model year. Although the production car changed in detail, the concept’s styling established the retro-modern direction that defined the new Camaro. The concept should not be confused with the later Camaro Convertible Concept shown in 2007.
