What award did Pixar’s Cars win for Best Animated Feature at the 79th Academy Awards?
Answer
It did not win
Pixar’s Cars did not win the Best Animated Feature award at the 79th Academy Awards.
Cars was nominated in the category for the 2006 film year, but the Oscar went to Happy Feet. The other nominee was Monster House. This makes Cars an Academy Award nominee in the category, not its winner.
The result is sometimes misremembered because Cars was a major commercial and cultural success and received several other award nominations. It also won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film at the 64th Golden Globe Awards, which may contribute to confusion about its Oscar outcome.
The 79th Academy Awards ceremony took place on February 25, 2007. The answer is phrased as “It did not win” because the question asks what award Cars won in that specific category; the film received a nomination rather than the trophy.
