Toy Story 5 is the fifth main installment in the Toy Story film series.
The film follows Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Toy Story 4 (2019). Pixar announced the fifth movie in 2023, continuing the story of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the other toys after the events of Toy Story 4. Andrew Stanton directs and co-writes the film, while Pixar veteran Randy Newman returns to provide the music.
Toy Story 5 is sometimes confused with the franchise’s other projects, including the 2013 television special Toy Story of Terror!, the 2014 special Toy Story That Time Forgot, and the spin-off film Lightyear (2022). Those titles are part of the wider Toy Story universe or related brand, but they are not numbered main installments. The numbered film series therefore reaches its fifth chapter with Toy Story 5, which is scheduled for theatrical release in 2026.
