The Mulu Caves are in which Malaysian state?
Answer
Sarawak
Answer
Sarawak
The Mulu Caves are in Sarawak, one of Malaysia’s states on the island of Borneo. They are part of Gunung Mulu National Park in the Miri Division of Sarawak, a protected rainforest and karst landscape near the border with Brunei.
The caves are internationally known for their enormous chambers, river passages and limestone pinnacles. Gunung Mulu National Park includes Deer Cave, Clearwater Cave and Sarawak Chamber, which is among the world’s largest known cave chambers by area. The surrounding forest is equally important, supporting exceptional plant and animal diversity.
The park was established in 1974 and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Its fame grew through the Royal Geographical Society expedition of 1977–1978, which spent 15 months conducting scientific work in the area. Later expeditions, collectively associated with the Mulu Caves Project, continued mapping and exploration. The common mix-up is choosing Sabah, another Malaysian state on Borneo; Mulu is specifically in Sarawak.
