The 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham were the 27th edition.
The championships were held from 10 to 16 August 2026 at Alexander Stadium. They formed part of the long-running senior outdoor European Athletics Championships series, which began in 1934.
The 2026 meeting followed the 2024 championships in Rome and preceded the 2028 edition scheduled for Chorzów. The series is generally held every two years, although its history includes interruptions caused by major world events and other changes to the athletics calendar.
Birmingham was historically significant because it became the first British city to stage the European Athletics Championships. Britain had hosted several other major athletics competitions, but not the senior European outdoor championships before 2026.
