J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published in the UK on 21 July 2007.
The book concluded the original seven-novel series and continued Harry’s hunt for Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Bloomsbury released it simultaneously in many markets, creating major queues and midnight sales events. The publication date was a Saturday, allowing booksellers to stage a large weekend launch.
Deathly Hallows became one of the fastest-selling books in publishing history. Its release followed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which had appeared in 2005. Readers sometimes confuse the novel’s publication date with the release dates of its two film adaptations.
The film version was divided into Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, released in 2010, and Part 2, released in 2011.
