Need for Speed: Underground Rivals was released for which handheld platform?

The story behind the answer

Need for Speed: Underground Rivals was released for the PlayStation Portable.

Released in 2005, Underground Rivals was developed by Team Fusion and published by Electronic Arts as a handheld spin-off of the Underground games. It was the first Need for Speed title released for Sony’s PlayStation Portable, commonly abbreviated PSP.

The game adapts the series’ emphasis on nighttime street racing, tuning and visual customization to the handheld system. Unlike the console and PC version of Underground 2, Underground Rivals does not offer a fully explorable free-roam city. Its events are organized through race modes such as circuit racing, drag racing, drift attacks, lap knockouts and Nitrous Run challenges.

Players can enter an Underground career or choose Quick Race events, while performance upgrades are purchased using Upgrade Points. The title is sometimes mistaken for a portable version on Nintendo DS or PlayStation Vita, but neither system is the correct platform here. The PSP launched in 2004, making Underground Rivals an early entry in its racing library.
